One day while at work, I was missing my dog that had died and thought it was the right time for a new dog. I looked on the local-to-me website, Broome County Humane Society, and found this dog named Blitz, and his picture was just perfect. I fell in love immediately. My boss went with me to look at the dog, so we drove over during our lunch hour and looked at Blitz. We took him outside, and it was love at first sight! He needed room to run; he needed an understanding human who would give him the space he needed to be a dog with lots of energy, and we did just that! After the application process and ensuring the Human Society that we had enough land for him to roam on, I picked up Blitz! On the way home, he put his head on my chest the entire way home (an hour drive), and that was the beginning of his story.
Deciding to begin your pet journey with a newborn pup is beautiful. Though I encourage any type of pet ownership, adoption is doubly nice. When adopting, many dogs have already been trained, which is a huge reason owners hesitate to begin dog ownership to begin with.
I encourage you to check out your local listings for information on available dogs. In the meantime, visit this website for information about pet adoption.
